Hormone control of function is achieved by the pituitary gland - no different in female or male pituitary glands anatomically, it just reacts to the different circulating hormones in males and females.
LH and FSH can not be released independently - both have to be released at the same time, but the ratio of the two can be changed (more so in women). Usually the LH is greater than FSH.

Sustentacular cells are kept in a working state by testosterone, and are made to grow and expand. Sustentacular cells produce proteins and enzymes for spermatids because they can’t do it themselves (only haploid - DNA not turned on).

If sperm are ejaculated, feedback causes later stages of sperm generation to go faster.
